The Sacraments: Encounters with Christ
The seven sacraments are sacred gifts given to us by Jesus Christ. Through them, God pours His grace into our lives, strengthens our faith, and draws us closer to Him. Whether we are beginning our journey of faith, seeking forgiveness, celebrating a vocation, or receiving strength in times of illness, the sacraments are visible signs of God's love and presence among His people.
The Catholic Church celebrates seven sacraments:
- Baptism
- Reconciliation (Confession)
- Holy Eucharist
- Confirmation
- Anointing of the Sick
- Holy Matrimony
- Holy Orders
"The seven sacraments touch all the stages and all the important moments of Christian life." (CCC 1210)
We invite you to explore each sacrament to learn more about its meaning, its foundation in Sacred Scripture, and how you or your loved ones can receive it here at St. James.
